This one forgives the odd slip and establishes quickly, so it makes a natural first Cubaris. Keep them warm, somewhere around 17 to 28°C, and lean towards the middle of that range rather than letting them get cold. Unlike the fussier cave Cubaris, the Anemone does not need a sharp humidity gradient. Aim for moderate, steady dampness of roughly 55 to 75%, with good cross-ventilation across the top to keep the air moving. Moist, not wet, is the phrase I come back to: a consistently lightly damp enclosure suits them far better than a soaking one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBuild them a living base rather than a dead one. I mix \u003ca href=\"\/products\/flake-soil\"\u003eflake soil\u003c\/a\u003e, rotted hardwood and pesticide-free organic topsoil, which gives the colony something to graze and burrow through as it breaks down. I would avoid a plain coco-coir base; it holds damp without feeding a grazer anything. Small starter groups can be shy, but a larger, settled colony grows bolder and moves about day and night, which is when they are most enjoyable to watch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey breed well too, which is a big part of their appeal. Females brood their eggs in a marsupium and release fully formed live young, and under warm, lightly damp conditions with calcium on hand, a colony builds steadily. Give them plenty of cover and a decent starter group and they establish faster.
