Isopods, Millipedes, Roaches, Springtails & More

At PostPods, we're proud to offer one of the UK's largest and most diverse ranges of captive-bred invertebrates, with a collection of isopods for sale that's closing in on 200 species — and still growing. Whether you're setting up your first bioactive terrarium, assembling a cleanup crew for dart frogs, crested geckos or bearded dragons, or simply looking for a fascinating low-maintenance pet with genuine character, we've got something to suit every keeper.

We curate our inventory carefully so it covers the full experience spectrum — from hardy, beginner-friendly species like Porcellio laevis 'Dairy Cow' and Porcellionides pruinosus 'Powder Orange', through to rare, high-demand morphs such as Cubaris 'Rubber Ducky' and 'Panda King' and Armadillidium vulgare 'Magic Potion'. Our stock spans all the major genera — Cubaris, Armadillidium, Porcellio, Porcellionides, Oniscus, Venezillo, Trichorhina and Ardentiella (formerly Merulanella) — plus a growing selection of rarer 'Other Species' like Reductoniscus tuberculatus 'Ankylosaur' for collectors hunting something off the beaten path.

More Than Just Isopods

Our range has grown well beyond isopods. We also stock captive-bred springtails — the ideal microfauna partner for any bioactive enclosure — including classic white Collembola alongside striking Neanuridae morphs like Santa Claus and Thai Red. For keepers ready to add something larger to their collection, our millipedes for sale cover everything from beginner-friendly Chicobolus spinigerus 'Ivory' through to the long-lived Ophistreptus guineensis 'African Giant Chocolate' and UV-reactive 'Hawaiian Glow'.

To help you build and maintain healthy setups, we've also introduced a carefully selected range of accessories — 3D-printed screw-in air vents, premium fermented flake soil substrate, UK-sourced broadleaf leaf litter, bee pollen supplements, and top-opening acrylic enclosures from our friends at Exotic Enclosures.

A Family-Run Business You Can Trust

PostPods is a family-run business with a simple policy: it's our pet until it arrives in the care of its new owner. That means the same high standards of husbandry — feeding, temperature, humidity, careful packing — apply right up until you open the box. Every order ships with a 20% overcount to cover any rare transit losses, a species-specific care sheet, and our live arrival guarantee. We dispatch Monday to Thursday via Royal Mail Tracked 24 and Royal Mail Next Day By 1pm, so your invertebrates arrive fresh and ready to settle in.

Why Sell Inverts?

I've kept exotic animals for over 23 years. It all started with a corn snake I got when I was 10, and the list just kept growing from there — an alligator snapping turtle, Bosc monitors, dozens of tarantulas, scorpions, and eventually a Burmese python, to name a few.

The Burmese python is actually what led me to isopods. As he grew, so did the mess he was making in his 8-foot vivarium. My partner — who'd already kept isopods in her chameleon enclosure — suggested diversifying the cleanup crew beyond just springtails. I eventually gave in and picked up some dairy cow isopods. Within a few months, thousands of them were ruling the viv.

That's when the fascination kicked in. Watching this tiny army do its job so efficiently, I started wondering: if dairy cows look this good, what else is out there? Down the rabbit hole I went.

Through a Facebook group, I connected with Tom Marsh, who took me under his wing and introduced me to the world of exotic isopods. I began keeping different species, and before long my inner child had taken over — the same kid who'd obsessively collected Pokémon cards years earlier was now collecting pods instead.

For a long time I was purely a collector; the idea of selling from my own colonies hadn't crossed my mind. Encouragement from others in the community eventually pushed me to build my own brand and website. PostPods started as my personal Pokédex — a way of keeping track of every species in my care — and grew into something bigger: a way of sharing everything I'd learned back with the hobby.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are isopods?

Isopods are small, fascinating creatures that belong to the crustacean family - making them more closely related to shrimp and crabs than insects, even though they live on land. You might know them by their common names like "pill bugs," "roly polies," or "woodlice."

What are the best isopods for beginners?

Some of the best isopods for beginners include Dairy Cow, Powder Orange, and Zebra Isopods. These hardy species are easy to care for and great for starting your colony.

Are your isopods for sale to people outside the uK?

Unfortunately at this time, we can only post within the UK as we do not have the required permit/license to post isopods internationally but this is something we would really like to be able to do in the future.

Do you guarentee live arrival

Yes we do. Unfortunately isopods can die in transit due to various reasons. In order to try mitigate this we do our best to pack your isopods as secure as possible. In the unfortunate event isopods do arrive dead, please notify us within 12 hours of purchase and we will rectify this situation with you. If you however miss your delivery for whatever reason we cannot give you any guarentee. We also provide a 20% overcount for all animals to cover any potential losses.

Do you have inverts for sale which are not listed on your site?

We like to think of our website like a Pokédex. Whenever we get new isopods in our collection we add them to our website and list them as unavailable, then once we have a good number of them we release some for sale. If you are ever looking for something specifically and it is out of stock, please get in touch as we are often happy to release small quantities for people.

How fast do you deliver?

Our postage days are Monday to Thursday however we do not process orders the same day Monday and Tuesday due to work commitments (I work from the office in my normal job on these days) so if you place an order at any point on these days your order will not leave until the following day (including orders where customers pay for next day delivery)

Cutoff on Wednesday and Thursday for same day dispatch is 8am however we will alwaud try process orders placed later if possible but this isn't guarenteed.

During the winter months, orders may also be delayed due to the weather - please check our homepage for any information on this however we will always email anyone who's order will be delayed.

How many isopods should I start with?

We recommend starting with at least 10–15 isopods to establish a stable colony. Some species of isopod will breed quicker than others but having 10-15 to begin with ensures you have a good amount of both sexes as well as various ages.

Can I keep isopods and springtails together in the same enclosure?

Absolutely! In fact, isopods and springtails make the perfect cleanup crew team for bioactive enclosures. Springtails feed on mold and organic matter, while isopods handle decaying plant material and waste. Together, they help maintain a clean, low-maintenance, and natural ecosystem for reptiles, amphibians, or plant terrariums. Just make sure to provide plenty of leaf litter and a moist environment to support both species.
