Repashy Calcium Plus LoD

Calcium Plus LoD is the low-D3 version of Repashy's all-in-one dusting powder. Repashy makes it for species with low vitamin D requirements that receive moderate UVB radiation from natural or artificial sunlight, animals that make part of their own vitamin D3 in the skin.

Why Lower D3?

An animal basking under UVB makes vitamin D3 in its skin, so it needs less from its dusting powder than one kept without UVB. LoD is built for that case. On Repashy's label it carries two-fifths of the standard formula's vitamin D, with vitamins A and E reduced in step, and the same calcium and trace minerals. Too much dietary vitamin D is a documented hazard in reptiles, which is the reason to match the powder to the lighting.

Who Should Use LoD?

Keepers whose animals bask under UVB: bearded dragons under T5 systems, chameleons in screen enclosures, day geckos, agamids, and diurnal species generally. Dart frog keepers with UVB-lit vivariums also lean towards LoD when dusting fruit flies. If that's your setup, LoD is the version Repashy makes for it, used at every insect feeding as the label directs. Like its siblings it carries vitamin A alongside carotenoids, at a lower level. Vitamin D needs differ from species to species, so check the care advice for your own animal before you settle on a version.

How to Use

Shake feeders gently with a small amount of powder and feed immediately, at every insect feeding. Pairs with gut-loading: feeders raised on Bug Burger for 24-48 hours then dusted with LoD carry both internal and external nutrition. If you're choosing between the three versions, Repashy's own lines are: high vitamin D requirements and little UVB → HyD; low vitamin D requirements and moderate UVB → LoD. The standard Calcium Plus carries no such condition: Repashy describes it simply as a supplement for dusting insects.
