Ignamba Isopods For Sale
Ignamba is an African genus of rolling isopods that almost nobody keeps, and I currently keep one line of it, Ignamba sp. 'Nigeria': an undescribed animal with almost nothing published on how to keep it.
The stock is captive-bred, and it is posted Monday to Thursday with the live arrival guarantee and a 20% overcount.
What it is
My supplier gives the locality as Nigeria, but every described Ignamba comes from Tanzania or Malawi, so either the animal is not an Ignamba, it is not from Nigeria, or it is a range extension nobody has written up. Ignamba Budde-Lund, 1910 belongs to the family Eubelidae, and five species have been described in it, two from Tanzania and three from Malawi. Rolling into a ball is one of the formal characters of that family, so this is a rolling isopod by family membership, although no source describes the animal itself. No size or description of its appearance has been published.
Care
With nothing published, the care is built on the family and on keeping it: warm, humid and well ventilated, with a good depth of substrate and patience while it settles. The listing gives the figures I work to.
For other uncommon genera, see the other isopod genera page, and new arrivals for the latest additions.
