Capital Invertebrate Show – 27 April 2025
The drive to the ‘The Big Smoke’ commenced on 26 April 2025. Stock all prepped and packed the night before, the car was loaded, and we were ready to go. The drive down to London was surprisingly uneventful despite our initial anxiety about the drive which was a welcome relief.
As we arrived at our hotel for the night, we met Just One More for food and drinks and a good catch up before being turfed out of the pub to wander back to our hotel rooms. It should have been a good night’s sleep, but our room air conditioning did not work well resulting in the room being far too warm for us to sleep well.
Soon enough the show morning had arrived, showered to wake us up and belly’s full of an English breakfast, we were ready to go. As we arrived, we were directed to our table right near the entrance to the show hall. It’s enjoyable setting up our table as other vendor friends come over and say their hellos and sometimes a before show trade is done between us.
Then the doors were open. It was fascinating watching the waves of people pass by our table and as if pulled by magnetism some were drawn to our table to gander at what was available. It was funny to see some customers having an internal battle with themselves, really wanting to buy pods straightaway but also wanting to look around the rest of the show first.
Our Hoffmanseggi Orange and Yellow Ghosts were very popular at the show and totally sold out. A show first for PostPods was our offering of White Rubber Ducky’s which caused a lot of excitement amongst the Rubber Ducky isopod fan base.
This show gave us the opportunity to meet some vendors in person that we have been chatting to for a while. Adam at Mirco Exotics was a top guy who had a great selection at his table on show day. He was kind enough to trade us Filippinodillo Nakar Isopods and Cubaris Cappuccino Latte Isopodswhich were both awesome. We also met Only Pods and IsoLife in person for the first time and had a great long chat with each of them. It was fantastic to meet you both and look forward to seeing you again at future shows.
The weather on show day was a beautiful day, 25oc and not a cloud in sight. It was nice to briefly stretch our legs out in the sunshine. Thankfully the air con was working at the show venue so it wasn’t too warm inside the hall.
After the show we were kindly invited by Eight-Legged Emporium to join them for a post-show meal at a local Chinese Restaurant. Kris and Ling’s Zoo on Wheels, Jeremy’s Wild World and Charlotte also joined. It was such good company, good company with lots of laugh and absolutely amazing food.
Instead of making the long trip back home on the evening of the show, we treated ourselves to another hotel nights stay where we had a better night’s rest now the room air con was working a little better than the previous night. A much-needed rest after a great show day.
The next show we will be attending will be the British Tarantula Show in Warwick on 18 May 2025. We look forward to seeing you all there.
